5.  The ability to defend/protect - spirtually - practically.

6.  Basic Tools

We are preparing first for a situation where we can stay in a home/house.  This is the expectation of short term economic panic, but the assumption that the country/economy will stabilize in a relatively quick time (a couple weeks).

However, because of our budget, we keep in mind that we may have to hike out of the city.  We believe that the next likely scenario will be a larger time of collapse (a month or two).  This will elevate the danger level of the cities and provide incentive for us to actually want to leave higher populated areas.  This possibility influences some of our decisions - such as what we choose as a water filter.  We ask the question, can we hike out with it?

Realize that those that imagine and prepare have no need for fear. Knowing the possibility of the future means that the unimaginable never surprised you.  An economic collapse levels the playing field.  You are creative.  A hard worker…and now…preparing.  Turn fear into energy.  Energy into excitement. Adventures are fun - especially if you are with the ones you love.
